Welcome Back to term 4

Hope you all had a fantastic holiday and are ready again to learn as much as possible in our last seven weeks of term this year.
For writing this term we will be looking at different types of poetry and writing a variety of poems our focus is
Use descriptive words to write poetry.
Learning Intentions:
I can be selective in my choice of words to choice the best one.
I can use a thesaurus and dictionary to help me find and spell correctly the best words.
I can plan, write and redraft and refine my poem.
In Reading our strategy we are working on is Visualisation.
WALT visualize when we read.
Visualisation is a strategy through which we draw on our senses to picture and think about the images we gain in our mind as we read:
-       Before we read we will gain images from headings, illustrations and key words
-       During reading we will gain images from the vocabulary, structures and literacy devices used in the sentences we read and the illustrations that support the text.
-       After reading we will visualize using the information we have gained and learned.
Success Criteria
-       Think about and tell our group what we see/hear/smell/taste/touch as we read
-       Use words from the text to support images we see/hear/smell/taste/touch as we read
-       Use nouns, and adjectives, verbs to tell others of our images as we read
-       Use phrases from the text to talk about and support the images we read.
-       Use punctuation from the text to talk about and support the images we read
Use literacy devices used by the author to explain what we image as we read eg ‘as loud as’ simile
In Mathematics we will be looking at probability.  We will be learning to :
I am learning that probability is the chance of outcomes occurring
I am learning to systematically find out all possible outcomes
I am learning to design and carry out trials to find out all possible outcomes.

Check out our new sites to look at.  We have a link to a poetry site, and a link to an omline wordfind site.  Have fun exploring these new sites.
