Topic - the Body

We have been learning about the skeleton and the internal organs in our body.  We have made a cardboard skeleton and put the internal organs onto it.

Scientific reports.

We had to write a scientific report on a planet of our choice.

Uranus

Uranus was discovered in1781.  It is the seventh planet.

The temperature is never higher than 170oC below zero.  It is the third largest planet.  Uranus is composed of rock and ice.  Uranus's blue colour is the result of absorption of red light by methane in the upper atmosphere.  Uranus has about thirty rings.  Uranus is a gas planet.

It would be good to find out more about Uranus.

Our sun is not unique in the universe.  It is a common middle sized star which scientist have named Sol after ancient roman name.  This is why our system of planets is called the solar system.  There are trillions of other stars in the universe just like it.  Many of these stars have their own systems of planets, moons, asteroids and comets.

The sun was born in a vast cloud of gas and dust around 5 billion years ago.

Earth

Earth is the third planet from the sun, and the fifth largest of the eight planets in the solar system.

Earth is the only planet in the solar system with creatures living on it, it is also the only planet with h20c as a liquid on it's self.

Earth is a mass of rock, melted rock and hot gasses.

Planet earth is not hot and not to cold making a perfect environment to live in.

I think earth is a good place to live.

Some of us have written reports on a fruit of our choice.

Pineapple

Pineapple is a fruit and pineapple an has seeds.  It is yellow.  It is hard.  People like to eat it.  It grows in India.  It is yellow in the inside.  It is yummy and lots of people eat it.

Grapes are a kind of fruit.  They have little pips.  They have lots of juice and they have skin.  They grow in the garden.  You chew them and you swallow them.  I like them.  They are my favorite.

Bananas are healthy like vegetables and they are like watermelon.

They are yellow outside and inside the banana is lightish yellowish inside the banana.

Banana are a yummy milkshake and banana kebab sticks because they are yummy.

Writing

This term we are learning to write a variety of reports. We have began by writing a progress report for a sports person.  Here is some of our writing

Dan Carter

Dan Carter has been playing for 10 years.  He plays rugby for the All Blacks team.

He is very good at kicking goals.  Dan Carter practices every day and week.  He has been playing since he was 5.

He wears a mouth guard during games.  Dan Carter is always in the correct All Blacks rugby uniform.

Dan Carter has been practising how to attack the other team.

He understands the positions on the field and he knows how to work in a team.

Dan Carter positions himself well and he is learning to tackle people.

Well done at kicking goals.

Casey William's netball report

Casey Williams

Casey Williams plays netball and has been playing for seven years with the Silver Ferns.

Casey Williams plays goal-keep and goal defence and centre for the Silver Ferns.  She does great as captain.

You can always tell she's having a good time.  She's very encouraging to her team mates.  Defending is one of her strengths.

She's always energetic and helpful to everyone and she's always there for her team mates.

At practise she never complains.

She is great as captain.  I hope to see her get better at netball and keep up the good work!
